A leading provider of athletic apparel, footwear and equipment was facing excessive labor costs in two expansive facilities in a central US location.
With a very complex operations environment, the client was challenged with labor shortage and lack of engineering resources. The situation was exacerbated by new management as well as an in-house engineering team that was already overloaded with projects to support the client’s growth. In order to meet the consumer demand, the client required expertise with improving the operations and increasing productivity for a large labor force, as well as boots-on-the-ground support for the operation.
The LogistiPoint team undertook an intensive effort to evaluate operating processes and develop refinements in each of the major departments in both of the large facilities. The LP team then developed engineered labor standards to use with the client’s labor management system. Our team spent considerable time onsite over many months working with the client’s operations management team to use these tools to help yield significant improvements in direct labor productivity.
In the client’s expansive operations, nearly all of its meaningful processes have been improved with updated engineered labor standards that are highly accurate and usable for managing the workforce in this challenging labor market.
